Snakebite a Neglected Tropcal Disease

          About 25,000 to 40,000 people are dying of snakebite in India every year, and of these, many face an agonizing death. but Unfortunately, Reliable statistics data on snake Envenomation are impossible.         The data's we have, are based on assumptions of  identification of snake, that is reported by the victims.  According to snakebite management in Asia & Africa produced by international medical research council in 2010, the following number of Human deaths occurs every year owing to snake bite in south Asian countries, based on a 10- percent of mortality rate for reported bites: India-11,000: Pakistan-1,200: Bangladesh-6,000: Sri Lanka -800 (Medical documents however, say over 3 -5 times higher the data of above death rate and snake bite in India. as  25,000 to 50,000 ) Total ignorance prevails about snakes and snakebite in India. many precious lives are lost and snakes are hounded and killed due to deep rooted superstitions The
